Thanks SO MUCH for putting together this list, Melissa-Jane! I also have a list of traditionally published children's book illustrators I've found on Substack who qualify for your list, which I've updated since you saw it last: https://debbieohi.substack.com/p/traditionally-published-childrens
I'm worried about you being overwhelmed: Are you limiting your list in any way? e.g. If someone who is thinking about self-publishing their own picture book wants to add your list, will you add it? Or an artist who is thinking about getting into children's books but hasn't really started researching yet? Also a bit worried about the "supporter" category since there are MANY kidlit supporters out there.
Don't get me wrong: I LOVE the idea of this list and am in awe of your generosity. But I'm worried about you ending up having to give up on the idea of maintaining the list because you're getting too many requests. Or are encountering hostility from people whose feelings are hurt because you haven't had time to add them or are saying no to them being added, etc. (I speak from experience from manually maintaining other lists in the past)
In any case, THANK YOU! Am going to share now, and will add it to my list of kidlit illustrators with a link. :-)
Awww you are very welcome! I'm not currently limiting my list, though it's certainly something I'll think about and possibly change/update depending on how well I can keep up. In terms of supporters, I'm thinking kidlit reviewers/marketers, but I suppose mainly because those I've added to the list that fall under that umbrella are either authors already or people I know who are working towards that, so this is something I may have to tweak as I go. Thank you so very much for pointing out these things, especially since I know you are incredible at all this and at bringing community together – your thoughts are so very much appreciated <3
I’ve been wanting to find a list like this! I started “A Perpetual Work in Progress” in February. It’s a weekly newsletter that includes a review of a picture book by/about Asians/Asian Americans. Plus other teacher-y, writerly, and life lesson musings.

I'd like to be on this list! My Substack isn't strictly kid lit, but I do circle around to that among other things. So far I only have one traditionally published illustrator credit (The Panda Cub Swap written by Beth Bacon) but hoping my agent is going to change that soon. I'm an author/illustrator PB and MG GN, cartoonist and painter. My Substack is Finding my Inner Panda. Thank you for compiling this list. My illustration website is...um...under construction, but has an spot on my website https://yourbrainonpandas.com

No, damn it. She didn't give me a deadline." take your time," she said. NEVER SAY THAT TO ME! Time expands like a junk mail on my desk. I love a good deadline (and of course to quote Douglas Adams, "I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by!")
HAHA! I'm exactly the same! I went weeks past my own deadline, but will stay up to all hours of the night if someone else gives me a deadline – or if it's for someone else's work.

Welcome Anne! I've just added you to the list. Wishing you luck on upcoming projects with your agent!
Thank you! I guess I better get on those revisions I'm working on. This is lovely incentive to get my rear in gear.
Haha! I know what you mean! Do you have a deadline? I work well with deadlines ... unless they're my own :/
No, damn it. She didn't give me a deadline." take your time," she said. NEVER SAY THAT TO ME! Time expands like a junk mail on my desk. I love a good deadline (and of course to quote Douglas Adams, "I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by!")

Thanks for including my newsletter on your list! Hope you enjoy reading it :)

Gotcha! Oh and yakokee for sharing a new word with me! (I hope I used it correctly.) In Dharug we say didyarigura.
Thankyou for including me in the list! :)
You're welcome, Jane :)
