Picture Book Review: WHATEVER COMES TOMORROW
Written by Rebecca Gardyn Levington and illustrated by Mariona Cabassa
WHATEVER COMES TOMORROW is a gorgeous, lyrical picture book that explores anxiety and worry in a relatable way for children.
I read this with my 5-year-old and she was captivated by the beautifully, vibrant illustrations. So much so, that we slowed right down to appreciate and admire each spread, which was calming and soothing in itself.
There are author and illustrator notes in the back, and tips for what you can do when your worries overwhelm you. A beautiful story with lots of helpful information.
I was such a big worrier as a kid. I used to make sure I knew all the exits in a classroom in case of emergency and I’d stress and not be able to sleep before sports days because I very rarely felt comfortable and in my element when playing sport. But I didn’t really understand worry and anxiety back then. I just thought it was normal to feel worried every single day.
It wasn’t until I was in my mid-20s that I discovered I’d always had anxiety. I started to learn different techniques to use when I felt overwhelmed, but I felt frustrated that I didn’t know about any of these things when I was a kid. Which is why I’m so happy to see this gorgeous book out in the world that will help kids who worry just like I did. A much-appreciated and much-needed book!
